MBE for former Yorkshire Chairman Keith Moss

Congratulations on behalf of all of us at Yorkshire County Cricket Club to former Yorkshire Chairman Keith Moss, right, who has been awarded an MBE for voluntary service to sport in the New Year’s Honours List.

A Vice-President of Yorkshire, Keith first gained a place as a Bradford representative on the General Committee in 1991, and he became chairman of finance the following year.

The Committee was reduced to 12 members in 1993, and Keith became chairman of Finance and Marketing - a post he continued to hold until he succeeded Sir Lawrence Byford as Club Chairman in 1998.

Keith remained in office until the General Committee was dissolved in 2003 and the Management Board took over the running of the Club. One of his greatest achievements was to bring to fruition plans to knock down the old Western Terrace and replace it with the West Stand - the first major piece of redevelopment at Headingley Carnegie.

A longstanding friend and neighbour of Sir Leonard Hutton, Keith is president of both Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club and the JCT 600 Bradford Cricket League. In 1999 he received the Sir Leonard Hutton Trophy for services to the Bradford Cricket League - and only recently he presented that same award to former England captain Raymond Illingworth.

Keith is also founder of the Sir Leonard Hutton 364 Club, and at the annual dinner at Headingley Carnegie in 2009 he brought former Prime Minister Sir John Major, below, as guest speaker.
