White Rose Forum to move onto official site

The Yorkshire County Cricket Club will be launching a new look website in early 2010 and is delighted to announce that the world famous White Rose Forum (WRF) will become a key part of the new site.

The WRF, which has been an independent meeting place for Yorkshire cricket supporters around the world since 1999, will move into the Yorkshire site, keep its name and identity and become an important element of a new ‘supporter’s zone’ on www.yorkshireccc.com. That ‘supporter’s zone’ will hopefully become the key interactive resource for anyone wanting to talk about Yorkshire cricket.

The WRF will be the Club’s official forum, but also retain much of the independence that it enjoys now thereby enjoying the best of both worlds. The Club wishes to build on its current communication systems and was keen to have a discussion forum on the new website which enabled website visitors to discuss, comment and opine on all things cricket. It was felt that formalising the existing relationship with the WRF into a productive working partnership was preferable to starting a brand new forum from scratch. An added benefit is the independent nature of the WRF, which will still be staffed by the site’s chief moderator, Alex Roberts and his team of independent moderators.

The bells and whistles that make the WRF more than just a message board will not be lost either. Many of the Yorkshire cricket supporters who currently write book reviews, match previews and colour pieces on the WRF have agreed to now provide their services to the official website. As a result of this and the hard work of another volunteer, Bob Horne, the new site will feature a comprehensive Book Corner with a comprehensive Yorkshire cricket bibliography and regular book reviews.

Alex Roberts of the White Rose Forum, said: “We are very pleased to be partnering with The Yorkshire County Cricket Club on this initiative. I feel that this is the best way to improve the White Rose Forum, to connect with more Yorkshire cricket fans and retain our status as the pre-eminent Yorkshire cricket forum on the internet.”

James Buttler, PR & Communications Manager at YCCC, said: “I am very excited about the White Rose Forum becoming a part of the Club’s new website in 2010. The Club didn’t want the new forum to be either a puppet of the Club or one that continually sniped, therefore the White Rose Forum is viewed as ideal. Of course they will have their gripes, but my experience is that they are well informed, balanced and have the Club’s best interests at heart. Alex Roberts has been an excellent moderator on the WRF and he will continue his work on that area of the Club’s new site.”
