Yorkshire cricket website breaks viewing records

The YCCC official website broke new territory in June - the biggest month ever for traffic on the site. A good time to thank you for your continued support and and also those who contribute to it...

In the month of June 2008 a massive 65,850 people viewed the Club's website, more than any month previously. The new look website was launched in February 2008 and everyone at the Club is very pleased with the way it looks and works, but there is still a long way to go before we sit back and say 'job done'.

White Rose TV has had a big impact too with over 8,000 people tuning in to watch the match highlights, features and interviews run on there.

There are a number of things which contribute to a good sporting website and the success, or otherwise of the team, is a major factor. Martyn, Darren and the lads have performed admirably on the pitch so far this summer so thanks firstly to them for making Yorkshire cricket newsworthy and exciting. Let's hope the good form continues through to the end of the season and we have a lot more to shout about before the winter kicks in.

Secondly, Yorkshire cricket supporters are more knowledgeable and proud of their team than anyone else. Your support is invaluable and a great many of you have had an input into the way the Club's website works. We have changed a fair amount of the site around since the re-launch and listened to the feedback we have received. The 2nd XI and Academy scorers now have mobile broadband access so they can send in their reports more quickly from anywhere in the country - often a cause of concern before. We will not sit back and will continually try to improve what this site offers you - if you have any observations let my know at jbuttler@yorkshireccc.com.

Finally, there are a great many people who assist with the content on the Club website. James Greenfield and David Warner work very hard behind the scenes to assist in keeping the content as up-to-date as possible. Michael Snook and Harold Galley, the aforementioned scorers, go above and beyond to bring the news from the 2nd XI and Academy games back to the supporters. Graham Hardcastle and Ste Crossman, the new boys on the away trips, have provided reports from the 1st XI away games very promptly too. They all deserve credit and now is a good time to say thanks to them all.

There is still a long way to go before communication is perfect at the Club, but we are making big strides forward. The Yorkshire County Cricket Club has the proudest history of them all and the YCM, the new-style matchday programmes and this website are all big elements that make the communication systems worthy of a Club of this stature. Our aim is to ensure that Yorkshire supporters know what is going on as soon as we can - sometimes we get it right, sometimes not, but we are all working very hard to keep you as informed as we possibly can.

Thanks for viewing the site. It is very much appreciated.
