Myra Shay Opening

The Myra Shay Grounds were opened on Sunday 12th July. The opening played host to a range of ball games including football, hockey and cricket, bollywood dancers and food stalls.

The cricket arena attracted budding bowlers with an inflatable speed king bowling net with speed guns and wickets and this was the main centre of attention for many of the young children who came on the day. Speeds of over 50 miles hour were reached by some participants and there were prizes for everyone who took part on the day.

Mr Owen, a teacher at Bradford Moor (u9 Bradford and district winners), brought many of the children down to the opening and tried the events on the day.

Shiv Krishan commented 'It is hard for many of the youngsters from the BD3 area to find green spaces and particularly an area to play cricket. The cricket pitch at Myra Shay, walking track and play areas will help develop skills and provide local residents with an area to develop and enjoy for years to come.'
