YCCC Partners with Doncaster College
Yorkshire County Cricket Club has teamed up with Doncaster College to raise the profile of cricket in Doncaster. The partnership will see the Club's Academy working closely with the College. It is also hoped that youngsters in the South Yorkshire area will also benefit from the link-up through varying projects.
The partnership was launched at Doncaster's Keepmoat Stadium on Wednesday, June 4 by YCCC Chief Executive Stewart Regan, College Principal Rowland Foote, and fast bowler Deon Kruis.
Chief Executive of Yorkshire CCC, Stewart Regan, said: "This partnership provides us with a great opportunity to combine sport with education. We will be working closely with the College on a number of projects, especially with their sports students.
"Sometimes young people might not listen to politicians or so called experts but they might listen to sportsmen. We can help deliver the message about the importance of being healthy and having fun at the same time.
"We will be going into the community and helping to raise the profile of the sport and we'll be launching a number of projects in the area."
Deon Kruis commented: "Looking at the facilities on offer for young people in Doncaster, this partnership provides a great opportunity for them to learn more about the game and study at the same time. I hope they grab this opportunity with both hands."
College Principal Rowland Foote supported this saying: "We are very proud to be entering into a partnership with a prestigious organisation such as Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Together we can improve what is on offer for young people across the region.
"But not only can we benefit the lives of young people but there is a possibility of using our world-class digital technology to help the Club's professionals with their game. It is an exciting time for both organisations."
