Playing for Success at Yorkshire County Cricket Club

The Yorkshire County Cricket Club is both pleased and proud to host the Playing for Success Learning Scheme.

Playing for Success is an extremely successful study support programme delivered in the Yorkshire County Cricket Club Learning Centre situated at the famous Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground.

The programme has now been running for schools in the Leeds area for the past five years and is one of only four centres in the city. Sessions are delivered ‘out of school hours' for Key Stage 2 & Key Stage 3 pupils and children attend each week for a ten week period, attempting to raise their achievements in Maths, English and ICT.

John Bedford, the Centre Manager, Glenn Horsman, the Deputy Centre Manager, and their team of enthusiastic, fully qualified teachers devise and deliver the programme and engage students through the imaginative learning activities at the exciting Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground.

The beauty of ‘Playing for Success' is that it has been proved to work. Not only do the Playing for Success pupils improve their attendance, behaviour and attitude back in their schools, but they do better in SAT's and at GCSE too!

YCCC are delighted that Education Leeds, Yorkshire CCC and the Department for Children, Schools and Families have agreed to fund and support the scheme for the foreseeable future and look forward to many more successful years.
