Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who is responsible for co-ordinating the Finals at Partnership, District and Area stage?

A. At the Partnership Finals it is expected that PDMs/ SSPs will liaise with the YCB to stage their own finals. YCB will be able to organise a Club Ground for use by the SSP, however it is the responsibility of the schools competing to arrange dates and times. It is expected that school staff and volunteers will help to run/officiate the games.

At District Finals stage, schools should arrange the date and time of fixtures and YCB will endeavour to provide a ground. Competing schools are expected to provide officials to supervise the games including Umpires and Scorers.

At Area Finals stage, schools will liaise with YCB as to the date and time of their Finals. YCB will provide support to the fixtures and a venue. Again competing schools are expected to provide officials to support their fixtures.

Q. What if my SSP is not organising events centrally?

A. Individual schools are welcome to enter and where possible will be invited to festivals which are in their locality. Partnership Finals and District Finals will be open to all schools who qualify through the festival/knock-out stage. Upon entry the Fixture Secretary will contact schools to inform them of their fixtures and potential path through the competition.

Q. What is a District Final?

A. A District Final is deemed to be the Finals for schools from the same Local Authority, for example Wakefield District Final will comprise schools from Wakefield MDC (Local Authority area). Depending upon entry there may be the need to allow schools to cross Local Authority borders.

Q. What if it rains?

A. Schools are expected to make indoor provision in case of poor weather conditions. This may be using the Primary School Hall, Local Authority Centre or High School Sports Hall. Further advice and guidance on this can be sought by emailing draxcupschool@yorkshireccc.com.

Q. How do we report our results?

A.  A results form will be sent to each school. Schools are welcome to include details of the games (including photos providing they have sought the correct consent from parents and carers in the case of photographs of children). These may be used within the media for publicity purposes.

Q. How can we find a Cricket Club to host our fixtures?

A. Please email draxcupschool@yorkshireccc.com with this enquiry. There are over 1000 clubs in Yorkshire many of which would be happy to host fixtures and festivals.

Q. Where can we find up-to-date information on the Drax Cup?

A. All information will be updated frequently at www.yorkshireccc.com/draxcup - this will include fixtures, results, news and other vital information.
