The club first saw the light of day at a meeting at Conisbrough Castle Working Men’s Club one dark March evening in l978. It was the brainchild of Mr Sydney Hare, a Yorkshire member of many years standing. The club started out supporting Yorkshire at home only - but soon members were travelling to away games - and very few Sunday matches have not seen the club supporting the county. Arnie Sidebottom was the big local hero, and the club busload was quickly dubbed, Arnie's Army.
We are still with the same coach firm who started out with us in 1978. The club has seen many changes over the years, but three original members still attend on a regular basis, home and away. An annual picnic is a feature at the end of every season, giving the lady members the chance to perform their catering skills. Meetings are held during the winter months, and a wide variety of speakers have graced the Conisbrough scene. The club continues to thrive, and hopefully will do so for many years to come.
