Phil Jaques retires from first-class cricket in Oz

Phil Jaques is to retire from Australian first-class cricket at the conclusion of the 2011/12 Australian domestic season. Yorkshire had signed the 32-year-old as an overseas player for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, but are now waiting on clarification from the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as to his registration status with the Club.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today announced it had agreed a new six year deal with BBC Sport for the radio rights to broadcast ball-by-ball commentary on international cricket from 2014 to 2019.

Cricket Auction at The Royal Shepherd

I'm afraid this is a slightly sad story for a Friday ladies and gentlemen. However, the pub has been a very loyal supporter of the Yorkshire Pride Lottery and the fact that their collection of (largely YCCC-related) cricket memorabilia is being auctioned off is worthy of a story.
