Tim Bresnan made the whole county, indeed country, proud when he helped England win the Ashes in Australia. Now back home, Brez is nursing a torn calf muscle, but he's relishing the chance for a break before the World Cup and has plenty of good memories to keep him going during rehab.

We asked Yorkshire Radio to sneak into Tim's relaxation time to ask him a few questions about the last few months. They started by asking whether claiming Ricky Ponting's wicket during figures of 4-50 on that memorable day in Melbourne was the most memorable moment for Tim...

Taking the wicket of Ponting is right up there. Taking the three wickets together - Watson, Ponting and Hussey - I think if one of them had dug in it would have been a hard couple of days for us. To knock the top off as we did. We used our skill to get the ball reversing and that's what we're about - building pressure and creating the wicket's we got.

It was a massive effort by England's bowling unit and the fact that we bowl as a unit made it easier.

So is Yorkshire's newest Ashes winning hero getting used to having achieved so much on the biggest stage possible?

No it still hasn't sunk in and it probably won't until well after the World Cup, but really I'm just enjoying it.

And what a hat-trick - the Twenty20 World Cup, the Ashes and then the ICC World Cup - victory in the latter would top a remarkable year.

It will be remarkable. It would be an impressive hat-trick for the English team as well as cricket in general. I think our chances are high. I think we've shown that we've got the skill to play in tough Indian conditions and compete over there.

How has your Yorkshire team-mate Ajmal Shahzad been finding the winter?

Ajmal is a fantastic bowler and he's come on leaps and bounds this winter. You only have to look at what he's doing in the current one-day series. He hits the bat hard, swings it both ways, reverses it when he needs to and he's got a slippery bouncer - all the attributes to be a world class bowler.

There's a few of the Yorkshire team knocking on the door. Galey, Lythy and Jonny Bairstow are out in the Caribbean with the England Lions. It's good for Yorkshire and great for our development as a county team.

I love playing county cricket and love playing for Yorkshire and I like to do it as much as possible when I can. It's great to be involved with both county and country - the team spirit is as high in the Yorkshire drssing room as it is in England's.

What's the latest with the calf injury?

It's good and I'll be ready for the World Cup. I have physio every day and the medical staff are on top of it and it should be fine. I see Scot, the Yorkshire physio, once a day. He does what he thinks is right and what needs to be done. It's been a bit of massage to break down the scar tissue and things like that. When that's done, hopefully this week, I will start to rebuild and strengthen the muscle and then get back to bowling.

So there's no danger you're going to miss this World Cup?

No danger!

Coming home from Australia a little early you've had the opportunity to soak up the Ashes celebrations back home?

Yeah definitely. It's good to see everyone still excited about the Ashes and what we achieved over there and managed to do. It was fantastic. To see the lads performing in the first 3 Tests and then performing myself in the last 2 was fantastic. It was a massive squad effort and the strength in depth that we've got was testament to the hard work we've put in. To come through and manage to win was fantastic.

I've kind of gone from strength-to-strength and when I've got a chance I've taken it and that's what you need to do in professional sport at that level. I've loved every minute of it and loved being around the squad and improving my game.

Friends back here at home have brought me back down to earth straight away. My Dad was straight into me telling me I 'shouldn't have bowled a slower ball then' and 'I did that wrong' and stuff. I think the real test will be when I go back into the local with my Dad and then go for dinner at my Mum's. I'm looking forward to getting all the friends and family around and start getting into each other again.

It's a good atmosphere to come back to and everyone's suppport was phenomenal during the Ashes, both home and away. We had people getting jet lag without leaving the country. It's fantastic. It's been unbelieavable how the Ashes gripped the nation and it's a great advert for the sport.
