Barbados the venue as season gets going

The Kensington Oval

A very young Yorkshire squad arrived in Barbados last night for their final pre-season touches, the highlight of which is a Twenty20 Cup involving seven other sides, including Derbyshire, Essex, Hampshire and Warwickshire.

With Tim Bresnan, Ajmal Shahzad, Adam Lyth, Jonathan Bairstow, Adil Rashid and captain, Andrew Gale, all on international duty there is plenty of incentive for some of the youngsters in the Yorkshire camp to stake a place for 1st Team selection.

The youngest of them all is Alex Lilley. The left-arm seamer is a last minute replacement for Ben Sanderson who underwent surgery on a perforated appendix towards the end of last week.

The Yorkshire squad in Barbados: Moin Ashraf, Gary Ballance, John Blain, Gerard Brophy, Oliver Hannon-Dalby, Lee Hodgson, James Lee, Alex Lilley, Steve Patterson, Richard Pyrah, Azeem Rafiq, Gurman Randhawa, Joe Root, Joe Sayers, Ryan Sidebottom and David Wainwright.

Anthony McGrath is also in the Caribbean, but will not be playing in any of the matches after undergoing knee surgery recently.
