Bresnan and Rashid sign new 3-year deals

Tim Bresnan and Adil Rashid have pledged their futures to the White Rose County by signing three-year extensions to their existing contracts. The Yorkshire County Cricket Club has been quietly going about the business of ensuring the future of the Club. In the off-season 2006/7 there were rumours that players were queuing up to leave Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground, but now they are queuing up to remain at the White Rose County . Over the course of the winter Anthony McGrath, Andrew Gale, David Wainwright, Adam Lyth and Richard Pyrah extended their contracts by three-years. Steve Patterson added two years to his Yorkshire career while Oliver Hannon-Dalby and Ben Sanderson signed one-year extensions

The Club is now delighted to confirm that Tim Bresnan and Adil Rashid have celebrated their recent England call-ups by signing new three-year deals.

Tim Bresnan, said: “I’m delighted to be pledging my future to Yorkshire County Cricket Club. It’s a massive Club and where I’ve spent most of my youth playing in the juniors and things, so it’s fantastic. The Club lures big players into its atmosphere. The white rose is massive for anyone who knows the history of the Club."

 Adil Rashid: "the county is moving in the right direction"

Adil Rashid, said: “I’ve loved playing cricket for Yorkshire so it wasn’t a big decision to extend my current deal by three-years. The county is definitely moving in the right direction and I want to be a part of the future success at the Club. There is a huge amount of talent here and we’re all pulling for each other.”

Martyn Moxon, Yorkshire’s Director of Professional Cricket, is putting together a spine of the team which will carry the side forward. He said: “We have been assessing where our strengths lie as a Club ensuring the quality players that will be the spine that we build the side around in the future are signed up, happy and comfortable with their situation at Yorkshire . It is now fantastic news that Tim Bresnan and Adil Rashid want to be part of our progress over the coming years.”

Stewart Regan, Yorkshire’s Chief Executive, said: “It is great news for the county that a whole host of talented individuals have committed their future to Yorkshire and now the two most talked about youngsters here, Tim and Adil, have signed new contracts. We see it as crucial to have a consistent structure amongst the squad where the players we want to build the future on are happy at the Club.”
