Bresnan happy to link up with Dizzy again
Tim Bresnan has told the Bradford T&A that Yorkshire’s new 1st Team Coach Jason Gillespie is the reason he is now playing for England.
Bresnan said: “I think Jason Gillespie is a good appointment. I played alongside him when he was first at the club, and he is one of the main reasons why I am playing international cricket now. I learnt so much from him, just bowling at the other end or standing at mid-off and watching him operate.”
And Bresnan looked back on Yorkshire’s disappointing 2011 season: “We didn’t play as well as we could have done consistently enough. To win Championships and stay in Division One, you need to play consistent cricket. It’s a tough situation, but we’ll be all right.”
Bresnan has also suggested that he wanted to play more t20 matches for Yorkshire in 2012 as England prepare to defend their World crown: “I do love playing Twenty20 cricket, but I’ve only played a handful of games this year, and that isn’t enough. We are the No 1 side in the world in this form of the game, and we want to keep on improving to keep that place. But we can’t do that if we don’t play in that form of the game. I would love to play more domestic Twenty20 cricket because I love playing for Yorkshire. Some of the games, especially against Lancashire when it’s like an international match, are great to play in.”
