Dates set for 2011 Members' Forums
The very successful Member Forums will again be held in the East Stand Long Room at Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground during the 2011 season. Dates, times and matches are as follows:
All times are 10 to 10.45am except for September, when the Forum will run from 9.30 to 10.15am.
Saturday, Apil 16: Durham LVCC
Wednesday, May 11: Hampshire LVCC
Thursday, July 21: Lancashire LVCC.
Friday, September 9: Somerset LVCC.
Notes from the Members’ Committee meeting held on February 21, 2011. The key issues were as follows:
There was a review of the international programme from 2012 to 2019. It was confirmed that Headingley would stage both a Test match and a One-Day International each year during this period.
There was debate on the advanced sale of Test tickets for the visit of South Africa from August 2 to 6, 2012, and the One Day International against the West Indies on June 22. Particular attention was given to potential discounts for early purchase by members.
Falling membership numbers are a growing concern, and discussion examined how best to contact those who have lapsed and to encourage renewal for 2011. A more detailed debate will take place at the meeting in early April, when specific initiatives will be examined.
The costs of providing the Year Book were examined against the overall financial position of the Club. It was agreed that a fee of about £6 was not unreasonable, as it covered unit production costs. Members would be able to obtain their copy at this still significantly discounted price together with a voucher from the Members' Handbook.
The future of the Member Forums held in the East Stand Long Room during the season was considered. A view was expressed that the forums should be discontinued because of the style and content of some questioning. The majority view was that they should continue to be held in 2011, but reduced in number.
