Durham have issued an apology on behalf of Steve Harmison after comments he made about Matthew Hoggard's departure from Yorkshire.

The statement read:

Durham CCC Media Release: Comments made by Stephen Harmison

Durham CCC has received a complaint from the Yorkshire CCC regarding opinions expressed in the national media by Stephen Harmison relating to the release of Matthew Hoggard by Yorkshire CCC.

Both Durham CCC and Stephen Harmison recognise that the latter may not have been in possession of the full facts relating to this issue which is largely a matter for Yorkshire CCC and Matthew Hoggard and that his comments could be detrimental to the reputation of Yorkshire CCC. Durham CCC and Stephen Harmison regret any embarrassment caused to Yorkshire CCC by these comments.
