FLt20: Poor weather for Roses but Tykes march on

Old Trafford 12.30

Yorkshire were denied a Roses t20 double over Lancashire after rain washed out the Old Trafford leg. Yorkshire took first blood at Headingley last week with a commanding victory by 18 runs, but with no results in all three matches in the North Group have the top spot at their mercy.

MATCH REPORT

Yorkshire were denied a Roses t20 double over Lancashire after rain washed out the Old Trafford leg. Yorkshire took first blood at Headingley last week with a commanding victory by 18 runs, but with no results in all three matches in the North Group have the top spot at their mercy.

The win against Notts Oulaws yesterday confirmed a last eight spot for the Tykes. Now they can top the table and guarantee a home quarter-final with a win against Derbyshire Falcons on Sunday afternoon at Headingley. Anything but a victory for Notts Outlaws, who are two points adrift but with a superior run-rate, would also do.

Yorkshire have put together a wonderful campaign so far and I'm sure you will want to be at Headingley on Sunday to let the know how proud you are of their efforts so far.

MATCH PREVIEW

Yorkshire did the double over their Roses rivals in 2011 and took first blood at Headingley last week with a commanding victory by 18 runs. The win against Notts Oulaws yesterday confirmed a last eight spot for the Tykes. Now, can they top the table?

Don’t expect the Lightning to roll over and allow the White Rose county to tickle their tummy once again on Friday night as their Friends Life t20 lives depend upon it. They are in fourth spot a point behind Durham with two matches to play. They need to get to third and hope that’s enough to squeeze them through.

The weather forcast however is dire. Follow updates throughout the day at: http://www.lccc.co.uk/news/prospects-of-play/4947

A no result would not be the end of the world for Yorkshire who have never been  safely into the next stage of the competition so early. What a very pleasant change!
