Former Chairman Keith honoured at the Palace
News categories
Been to London to see the Queen: former Yorkshire County Cricket Club Chairman Keith Moss with his wife, Jean, above, after Keith been to Buckingham Palace to receive the MBE that was awarded to him in the Queen's New Year Honours.
Keith, a Vice-President of Yorkshire, first gained a place as a Bradford representative on the General Committee in 1991 and became Finance Chairman the following year. When the committee was reduced to 12 members in 1993, Keith was appointed Chairman of Finance and Marketing, and he continued to hold this post until he succeeded Sir Lawrence Byford as Club Chairman in 1998.
Keith remained in office until the General Committee was dissolved in 2003 when the Management Board took over the running of the Club. One of his greatest achievements was to bring to fruition the plans to knock down the old Western Terrace and replace it with the West Stand, the first major piece of redevelopment at Headingley Carnegie.
A longstanding friend and neighbour of Sir Leonard Hutton, Keith is president of both Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club and the JCT 600 Bradford Cricket League, and in 1999 he received the Sir Leonard Hutton Trophy for services to the Bradford Cricket League.
Keith is also founder of the Sir Leonard Hutton 364 Club, and at the annual dinner at Headingley Carnegie in 2009 he brought former Prime Minister, Sir John Major, as guest speaker.
