Gareth Davis, a Cricket Development Manager in South Yorkshire, is going out to Kenya in February to deliver the Cricket Without Boundaries charity project. He is hoping to raise at least £750 and would very much appreciate your help...

The Cricket Without Boundaries Trust was established in April 2005 as a registered charity by founder-trustees Andy Hobbs, Chris Kangis and Ed Williams.

Cricket Without Boundaries has three main goals:

• To spread cricket through coaching children and teaching adults how to coach, 
• To link the sport to HIV/AIDS awareness and incorporate these messages into coaching sessions. In sub-Saharan Africa alone there were 22 million deaths from AIDS in 2007. Many of those infected each year are children and it is not just education that is required, but education and a focus on changing behaviour patterns, and 
• To bring together and empower local communities through cricket.

?The project follows a simple three stage sports development structure to ensure some form of sustained development of the game: 1) coach education, 2) schools coaching, and 3) tournament.

The coaching and education takes the form of teaching the adults the basics of cricket through the ICC's Introduction to Cricket course (which includes coaching, umpiring and scoring) as well as more developed coaches delivering the ICC's level 1 and 2 awards.
