What a great night was had by all on Tuesday at our Sesquicentennial Soiree held at the Crucible Studio Theatre, Sheffield on the very day the club was formed back in 1863.
Around 450 cricket fans, former players and the current first team and academy squads attended the function to celebrate the club’s birthday.
Cricketing legends that have graced the county, both past and present, were in attendance including Geoffrey Boycott, Michael Vaughan and club captain Andrew Gale wowed the audience with great tales and opinions.
“It is a privilege to be involved in our 150th year,” said Geoffrey Boycott. “I have been involved with Yorkshire Cricket Club from a young age, first as a player and now as president
“The evening in Sheffield was a great success and those that were present enjoyed a night of reminiscing the great tales and history that is at the very core of the club.”
BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration was master of ceremonies for the night, which included readings and memories from a number of dignitaries including former esteemed cricket journalist David Warner, cricket author Stephen Chalke and current players Steven Patterson from the first team and Academy prospect Ben Coad.
Lance Pierson, an actor and lifelong cricket fan, presented stories and sketches spanning 150 years of Yorkshire history in one of the lighter moments during the night.
