Grey Fox Trophy Final
The final of the inaugural 'Grey Fox Trophy' for over 50s cricketers takes place at Headingley Carnegie this Friday (September 2nd).
The final will be contested by the Bradford Bhuddays and Fishlake CC and commences at 1pm with 30 overs bowled per side. Entry is free and spectators are asked to sit in the East Stand. The Long Room bar will be open for business although I should point out that there will be no food served, so if you envisage feeling peckish please bring some sandwiches!
The competition has been a great success in its first year and we're all confident that we can increase the number of entering teams in 2012. I know that a few clubs were a bit slow on the uptake and we just couldn't fit them in once the draw had been made. So keep your eyes peeled for more information. The chance to play on Headingley's hallowed turf is surely enough to encourage all the hibernating 'grey foxes' to heave the dusty cricket bags down from their attics and start netting again!
Best of luck to both teams on Friday. I hope as many of you as possible can come and give them some support.
The final marks the culmination of the 'Runs on the Board' project. A collection of photographs and poems celebrating over 50s cricket has been produced by Anton Want and Andrew McMillan. An exhibition of their work (in the guise of a sightscreen!) has been designed by the Curious Guide and will be up and running on Friday during the match.
