Yorkshire County Cricket Club are a step close to staging music concerts at Headingley Cricket Ground, after planning consent was granted for the Club to stage up to three concerts during each of the next two calendar years.
The Club will now be in a position to explore potential artists with a view to developing new income streams.
“This is excellent news for the Club and for Leeds,” said Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Communications Manager, Danny Reuben.
“Cricket is at the core of our business and this positive development will enable us to utilise the ground as a multi-entertainment venue for the community and support the business of cricket through new income streams.
“We will now work with Leeds City Council and local residents to develop an event management plan that will take into account the traffic management in the Headingley area. We also want to work closely with the local community to ensure they are aware of our plans. High-profile concerts will bring increased profile to the area and ultimately enhanced investment to the city.
“We are discussing a number of options with a variety of promoters and hope to be in a position to announce details of our first concert in the near future.”
