Yorkshire County Cricket Club have informed Gerard Brophy that his contract will not be renewed for the 2013 season.

Andrew Hodd has been signed on loan from Sussex as cover for Jonny Bairstow for the remainder of Yorkshire’s LV= County Championship season and 22 year-old Dan Hodgson, who made his senior debut on Sunday in the CB40 match against Unicorns at Headingley Carnegie, will continue to keep in that format of the game.

Gerard Brophy (36) has been an excellent servant to Yorkshire cricket since he first arrived at Headingley in 2006. He was awarded his 1st XI county cap in 2008 and enjoyed a Benefit season in 2011. Gerard leaves a Club where he has become extremely popular and is now free to pursue opportunities elsewhere. Everyone in Yorkshire cricket wishes him well.

Gerard Brophy said: "I'm disappointed to be leaving Yorkshire after seven great years. I've had twenty years playing cricket and all good things must come to an end. I've always given my all for the White Rose and wish the Club well in the future."

He has been an excellent servant to the Club and has been a key member of the dressing room. He will be missed around the squad. I would like to record my appreciation for his professionalism and dedication to the Yorkshire cause over the last seven years and wish him every success in the future.”

28 year-old Andrew Hodd made his first-class debut for Sussex in 2003 and has also spent time at Surrey. A former England Under-19 player, he has played 57 first-class matches, scored 2,006 runs at 29.07 with 4 centuries. He has also bagged 113 catches and performed 12 stumpings in the first-class game and brings with him a wealth of experience during a loan spell where he will take the Championship gloves whenever Jonny Bairstow is unavailable due to his ever increasing England commitments.
