With the help of Leeds City Council, The Yorkshire County Cricket Club has become the first cricket club in the UK to install PitchVision in its Indoor Cricket Centre. The technology, similar to Sky Television’s Hawkeye, maps and records all deliveries in a cricket net and provides bowlers and batsman with an invaluable insight into their performance.

With the help of Leeds City Council, The Yorkshire County Cricket Club has become the first cricket club in the UK to install PitchVision in its Indoor Cricket Centre. The technology, similar to Sky Television’s Hawkeye, maps and records all deliveries in a cricket net and provides bowlers and batsman with an invaluable insight into their performance.
 
PitchVision uses ‘sensor-mats’ to collect data on to a computer and provides sophisticated onscreen graphical feedback, tracking the height, deviation and trajectory of the ball and also assess the batsman’s footwork and scoring ability against a virtual field.
 
Ashley Metcalfe, Yorkshire’s Indoor Cricket Centre General Manager, said: “Television broadcasting has made us all aware of what is possible in terms of player performance analysis, yet despite the popularity and visibility of these systems virtually none of this technology is readily available to clubs, schools or sports centres, let alone the average player. The introduction of Pitchvision at Headingley Carnegie changes all that – enabling players of all ages and abilities to instantly check out their performances either at the Indoor Centre or via the internet in the comfort of their own home. and will be easily accessible to all.”

Who knows, it may help some of our cricketers in Leeds go on to be the next Michael Vaughan or Adil Rashid?””
