Plunkett going strong Down Under
In our weekly round-up from Australia, Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy Head Coach, Shaun Seigert gives his update on Liam Plunkett’s progress Down Under.
Yorkshire quick Liam Plunkett is enjoying his stint in Adelaide and has played his first matches during his stay in Adelaide.
Plunkett turned out for his club Adelaide University CC last weekend on both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday was the resumption of the two-day Grade fixture against Prospect CC. University, which boasts a whole host of first-class players including Australian and South Australia Redbacks player Dan Christian, Redbacks Australia A batsman Tom Cooper and Gloucestershire spinner Ed Young, saw University dismiss Prospect for 170. Plunkett returned figures of 2/30 from his 14 overs
University made reasonably light work of the chase. At close they were six wickets down with Plunkett 10 not out.
Putting Prospect back in, chasing outright points, Plunkett took 2/40 off his 14 overs helping his team to victory
Sunday saw Liam turn out for his club in the Quarter Final of the West End One Day Competition. The University Blacks played Glenelg and saw Liam take 1/14 off his 10 overs, with Dan Christian making 70 in University’s six-wicket victory.
With the weekend over, Liam turned his attention to Melbourne where the Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy are playing the Victorian Bushrangers 2nd XI in a three- day fixture.
