Rain robs Tykes of Bears revenge mission
Rain ruined Yorkshire’s chances of avenging their opening Friends Life t20 defeat to Warwickshire at Headingley. The Bears had reached 138-5 in the 18 overs possible and it was a shame as the match was nicely set up for a Yorkshire run chase after they had won the toss and asked Warwickshire to bat first.
Play had continued in the rain but after the players left the field the game was abandoned an hour-and-a-half later.
Jonathan Trott was run out for 1 by Andrew Gale at square leg after a mix-up with Neil Carter who never started to set off as Yorkshire struggled in the wet conditions.
The returning Tim Bresnan hot Carter on the helmet, but was dispatched for 6 with the next delivery. Carter and Will Porterfield added 52 for the 2nd wicket, but Carter was bowled by Azeem Rafiq. Rafiq then held a tough chance as deep square to get rid of Porterfield off Richard Pyrah. Warwickshire were 87-4 in the 12th over.
Ajmal Shahzad bowled Darren Maddy and Pyrah bowled Rikki Clarke. Warwickshire skipper, Jim Troughton, hit 49 not out in 30 balls, but the rain prevented a conclusion to a match that looked set to be a tense affair.

Yorkshire then travel to Worcester on Sunday, Leicester on Wednesday and Northants on Friday seeking points to reestablish themselves as genuine Quarter-Final contenders.
Tim Bresnan returns, but Steve Patterson is sidelined with a side-strain for which he has a scan today.
