Seamers find their feet as Seconds get on the park
News categories
At last Yorkshire Seconds saw some cricket! The four-day Roses game planned for Stamford Bridge to start today was cancelled last Friday, so two games against Lancashire were arranged to get some cricket for both sides.
Today`s effort was a 40-over game at Headingley Carnegie, beginning at noon...and it did.
Yorkshire won the toss and asked Lancashire to bat on a cloudy day - and they were soon in trouble. Enough seam movement was found by Ashraf, Wardlaw, McGrath and Hannon-Dalby to give the slips and wicket-keeper plenty of practice.
Andrea Agathagelou held his team together with a dogged 39 before a quick bit of fielding by Callum Geldart resulted in his departure.
This was the second run-out effected by the sharp Yorkshire fielders, as earlier Agathagelou and Parry had a calamitous misunderstanding to end up at the same end after good work by Alex Lilley. Parry had to go on this occasion.
Not long afterwards, the rain returned, an early lunch was taken and that was that. We all now adjourn to St Anne`s for a three-day friendly, beginning tomorrow hopefully.
The Second Eleven scores will be available again this season on match days via Total Cricket Live Scores. Here's how to keep up with scorer and website correspondent HOWARD CLAYTON:
