Sportingbet: England face West Indies in 1st T20

Jonny Bairstow Cardiff ODI

Sportingbet, official betting partner of the Test Match Grounds, offer a look at the best bets as the English cricket season continues.

With the domestic season done and dusted, the county sides can put their feet up and look forward to a couple of T20 matches between England and the West Indies across the next few days.

Graeme Swann has stated he’s delighted to have the opportunity to lead England against the West Indies and he’ll be looking to kick off with a debut victory in London.

The two NatWest International Twenty20 matches will be held at The Oval where England have only triumphed once against the Caribbean’s – which was back in June 2007. Replacing the injured Stuart Broad, Swann will captain England who have lost to the West Indies four out of the five times the teams have met at this level of the game.

The first of the two fixtures, held on Friday, sees young talent Jonathan Bairstow take to his first International Twenty20 game. The Yorkshire batsman was named Cricket Writers' Club Young Cricketer of the Year this week. He promptly followed up his award with an impressive display during the final meeting of England and India’s One Day International series when he scored 41 not out from just 21 deliveries. The uncapped Bairstow is available at 9/2 with Sportingbet to finish as England’s top runscorer in the opening clash with the West Indies.

England comfortably beat India in a recent T20 game by six wickets and those that fancy the Three Lions to head into Sunday’s clash with a 1-0 lead can get 2/5 with Sportingbet.

The visitors have not travelled particularly well in Twenty20 cricket and they have lost six of their 11 T20 games abroad. Punters that reckon they can put England to the sword on Friday can get around 7/4 for the West Indies to spoil Swann’s day.
