Supporters in Diamond tribute to President
Yorkshire President Raymond Illingworth holds a framed copy of the scorecard which recorded his Yorkshire debut on August 18, 1951, in the Championship match against Hampshire at what is now Headingley Carnegie.
It was to mark the 60th anniversary of the start of a significant epoch in Yorkshire cricket that the presentation was made by the Yorkshire County Cricket Supporters’ Association during the tea interval on Day 1 of the game with Warwickshire at the same venue.
Yorkshire won Raymond’s debut match by 10 wickets, and although he did not get a bowl he was in excellent form with the bat - scoring 56 in his only innings.
Pictured at the ceremony, left to right, are Clifford Gregg, of the Supporters’ Committee, President Illingworth, Secretary Paul Chapman and Chairwoman Charlotte Evers.
