Netherlands did the CB40 double over Yorkshire at Amstelveen in a display that Martyn Moxon described later as 'totally unacceptable'. The Tykes were never at the races in a batting display that meandered woefully and in the field where chances went begging. Credit to Netherlands however who fully deserved this summers bragging rights as they continue to grow the sport of cricket in their country.

Yorkshire won the toss and batted. Andrew Gale and Joe Sayers opened the innings in front of a modest crowd which including a smattering of Tykes supporters. The venue gave the game a benefit match feel and Yorkshire were in charitable mood.

Joe Sayers edged Mott to Gruijters at 2nd slip for 1 and Adam Lyth played an aggressive shot too early and skied a catch to Seelar off Mudassar Bukhari for 1. Yorkshire were 12-2 and the revenge mission for the defeat earlier in the season was off to stuttering start that would noty be recovered from.

Jonny Bairstow did little to calm Yorkshire nerves when he was bowled in Borren's first over for 4 and Yorkshire were 20-3 in the 9th over. Ballance was dropped by the keeper on 6 off Borren but he and Gale rebuilt until, with the sciore 46, Gale edged Borren behind on 16 and Yorkshire were 4 down at the end of the 17th over.

Adil Rashid struck Heggelman firnly back past him for four shortly after the Yorkshire support had cheered fifty on the board. Rashid then struck firmly to a fielder and Ballance went for a run that wasn't there and was out for 24. Yorkshire were 60-5 in the 23rd over. Ajmal Shahzad hit a huge straight 6 in the 30th over but then holed out in the deep nin the next over and Yorkshire were 88-6.

Yorkshire took the batting powerplay in the 35th over and Rashid struck Seelaar to the extra cover fence. You felt the Tykes needed at least 150 to stand a chance of restricting the Dutch. The hundred came up at the end of 35th over and the task of challenging Netherlands batsman looked even more remote when Rashid pushed a Mott full toss to Eric Szwarczyynski at mid-wicket and the score was 113-7.

At 115 Richard pyrah skied a Bukhari full toss to Wilfred Diepeveen at mid-off. Ben Sanderson was caught behind by Barresi off Bukhari for 2 and Iain Wardlaw was run out going for a 3rd and Yorkshire were all out for 123. Below par, disappointing and if the Tykes were to beat Netherlands they were going to have to bowl like demons.

Netherlands needed 124 to beat Yorkshire and Ajmal Shahzad struck in the 1st over when he had Szwarcynski nibbling behind. Barresi and Bukhari then added 52 for the 2nd wicket in 9.2 overs before a comedy run out saw a less than impressed Barresi gone for 21.

It had been Buckari who had led the charge after being dropped twice. Both chances fell to Gale, the first a real skier at midwicket off Sanderson and the second a mistimed shot through extra cover to Wardlaw's first ball - both should have been taken and Yorkshire had no lives left.

Bukhari then smashed Rashid down Sanderson's throat at long-on and he was gone for 27. Netherlands needed 63 to win in 27.4 overs and it should be comfortable, but Rashid was causing problems and gave Yorkshire a squeek. Gale droped Diepeveen when on 2 as he cracked through mid-wicket. The Yorkshire captain will not have fond memories of the Dutch this summer.

Spin came on at the other end in the form of David Wainwright and Swart was drawn forward and was stumped by Bairstow for 4 - 77-4 in the 18th. Peter Borren wasn't going to let things slip for his side as he hit 14 off Rashid's 6th over and Netherlands went to three figures with 19 overs still in which to score the 24 more runs required to win.

Some Netherlands nerves kicked in as the winning post got closer. Diepeveen was caught by Lyth off Wainwright for 22 and Borren edged Shahzad to Bairstow for 34 in 26 balls when just 2 runs from victory, but de Grooth hit the winning runs in the 28th over to spark scenes of Dutch delight and Yorkshire despair.
