Watch the World Cup on 'The Big One'!
Headingley Carnegie Stadium has been at the heart of many English sporting success stories over the last 120 years and patriotic fans will be hoping that the latest chapter will be written here this summer.
The stadium will host a fan park for all of England's World Cup group matches, with the action beamed live from South Africa so that fans can watch Fabio Capello's team as they go for World Cup glory. The action will be shown live on Yorkshire CCC's giant replay screen, which is the biggest screen within a British sporting venue, with fans able to sit on the cricket outfield and enjoy all the action.
The event will be free of charge* to enter and food and drink will be available for members of the public to purchase at the ground**.
England's first match in the World Cup is against the USA on Saturday 12th June. They then take on Algeria on Friday 18th June before they complete the group stage against Slovenia on Wednesday 23rd June.
Commenting on the World Cup Party, Yorkshire CCC Sales and Marketing Director Richard Kaye said, "With England having just won the ICC World Twenty20 Cup I can't imagine a more fitting venue than the world famous Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground for everyone to come along and watch our footballers try and follow suit in June and July."***
* The gates will open approximately 3 hours before the kick-off of each England group match. Entry to the ground will be free of charge to all Members of Yorkshire CCC. The event will also be free of charge to all members of the public, but the Club reserves the right to levy a charge, of £2 per person, for entry at any time from after 1 hour before kick-off onwards.
**As applies with all International Cricket Matches played at the Stadium a ban on the importation of alcohol will be in operation during all World Cup Matches broadcast at the ground. The bars and catering units within the ground will however be open during these events.
*** The broadcast of matches from the World Cup is subject to the receipt by Yorkshire CCC of the relevant public viewing licence from FIFA and such receipt will be confirmed shortly.
