YCCC supporter leaves donation to Foundation
The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation received a generous donation of £500 yesterday from the late Mr Kelly, a life-long supporter of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
Mr Kelly’s family interned his ashes to the Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground Memorial Garden on Sunday 28th November as the sun shone down on a snowy Headingley.
Mr Kelly’s son, Pete Kelly, presented the cheque on behalf of the family to David Gent, Yorkshire Cricket Foundation Trustee, who said a few words on behalf of the Foundation.
Mr Kelly wanted to leave a lasting legacy by donating funds for the development of grassroots cricket and by providing greater opportunities for young people. His family feel that the resting place, which will be marked by a white rose, will allow Mr Kelly to remain close to his beloved Yorkshire cricket.
The donation will be used to provide opportunities for communities and young people across Yorkshire to increase involvement in cricket, enhance education and develop social wellbeing.
