Yorkshire Carnegie sign Clint McKay for FPt20
Clint McKay, the 27-year-old Australian paceman, has signed as a Yorkshire Carnegie player for this season’s Friends Provident twenty20 competition.
McKay joins South African, Herschelle Gibbs, as the second permitted overseas signing to complete the Carnegie line-up for the shortest form of cricket.
McKay was a key member of Victoria's triumphant Sheffield Shield side in 2008-9, taking 33 wickets at 21.42. He picked up his maiden five-wicket haul and collected 3-35 in the final, while also grabbing 12 FR Cup wickets at 34.58. He was consequently picked for Australia A's home series against Pakistan A in 2009. McKay starred in the first unofficial Test, when he grabbed a career-best 6-75 and eight wickets for the match and performances like that earned him his only Test appearance so far against West Indies in December 2009 and 10 One-Day Internationals.
Clint McKay said: “I am really excited about coming to Yorkshire and playing in a young side that has enjoyed such a positive start to the season. I’ve heard a lot about the setup at Headingley Carnegie and I’m really looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere of twenty20 cricket in the UK. I cannot wait to get started.”
