Yorkshire former players among old-time greats
Yorkshire players from a previous generation were among members of the Professional Cricketers’ Association including former England chairman David Graveney, pictured, who attended their annual lunch at Headingley Carnegie today.
Unfortunately, wet weather prevented any play until into the afternoon on the second day of Yorkshire’s LV County Championship clash with Somerset, but the lack of any action on the field gave the former players even more time to reminisce.
Among the guests was Graveney, who has had a long and active involvement with the PCA and is currently a vice-president, and the ex-players included David Adams, Bob Appleyard, Dickie Bird, Darren Bicknell, Richard Blakey, Alan Brown, Peter Chadwick, Geoff Cope, Mike Cowan, Andrew Dalton, Ian Fisher, John Hampshire, Alan Hansford, Neil Hartley, ‘Basher’ Hussain, Richard Hutton, Mark Johnson, Allan Kettleborough, Graham Monkhouse, Alan Ramage, Fred Rumsey, Philip Sharpe, David K. Smith, David Steele, Bryan Stott, Brian Turner, David Wigley, Don Wilson and Matthew Wood.
