News categories
Yorkshire Pride Lottery are proud to sponsor Second XI Player Gurman Randhawa as he ventures to South Africa for a winter of cricket.
The 20 year old left-handed batsman joined Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 2008 and has played one game for the First XI in 2011 as well as several for the Second IX. He was named Academy Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010 and signed his first professional contract with the Club in 2011.
Speaking of the incredible opportunity Randhawa said: “I am looking forward to the personal and professional challenges I will face as I prepare for my forthcoming season in Cape Town.”
He added: “Having the responsibility of being an overseas professional for a club and being the player that is expected to perform well in every game will help me grow as a cricketer and a person. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Club for their continued support as I prepare for my season ahead and also thanks to the Yorkshire Pride Lottery for their funding and support.”
Randhawa will spend six months playing for Durbanville Cricket Club in Cape Town in South Africa and will return ahead of the season in March 2013.
