Yorkshire CCC (YCCC) has announced a series of measures designed to assist fans travelling to Leeds from all over the country to watch the 4th npower Ashes Test Match at Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground.

YCCC HOW TO FIND US

Fans arriving by car will, for the first time, be able to take advantage of the new ‘Park & Stride’ scheme located at Beckett Park . The car park, costing £6 per day for cars, £18 for mini-buses and £36 for coaches, will be stewarded throughout the day. Local volunteers will be on hand to direct fans from the Park directly to the ground – a journey of under half a mile. Yorkshire CCC has also worked with Leeds City Council to arrange for signage to be displayed from the M1 junctions directly to Beckett Park .

Following negotiations with Yorkshire CCC, Northern Rail has agreed to run an increased service from Leeds City Station to Headingley. Trains will now be running every 15-20 minutes throughout the Test Match. Volunteers will be on hand at both stations to direct fans the short distance to the ground.

Fans travelling to and from Headingley Carnegie will also benefit from a new service that provides up to the minute information on the arrival times of local buses. The service, called 'your next bus', is free to use. Customers simply have to send a specific eight digit number which can be found at each bus stop to 63876 and they will receive a text message telling them the time the next bus is due. Further information can be found at www.wymetro.com

Stewart Regan, YCCC Chief Executive, said: “Over 40% of fans travelling to Headingley Carnegie to watch this npower Test Match will be doing so from outside the area. It is tremendous that many supporters are travelling such a distance and we are keen to do everything to welcome them to Yorkshire and ensure their journey is as convenient as possible.

“I’m very pleased with the measures we have been able to put in place. As a Club we are committed to putting the customer first and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners at Leeds City Council, Metro and Northern Rail for their assistance in making sure we’re able to offer fans this enhanced service.”
