Yorkshire Radio, an Official Media Partner of the Yorkshire CCC, will be joining the Yorkshire team as they travel to Barbados for the pre-season tour in March. The station’s cricket correspondent, Mike Rossiter, will be providing regular interviews, updates and features from Barbados as the tour progresses as well as match score updates from the Caribbean.
During the weekend of 20th and 21st March the station will providing ball-by-ball match commentary on all the Barbados Twenty20 Cup matches on DAB Digital Radio across Yorkshire and nationally on Sky channel 0209 and the new Yorkshire Radio website www.yorkshireradio.net. That will include three matches on the Saturday, starting with Yorkshire’s game against University of West Indies , and all three matches on Finals Day on the Sunday. Six games in two days will test Mr Rossiter’s vocal cords to the limit!
Yorkshire Radio will then provide score updates on Yorkshire’s 40-over Semi-Final match against Essex on Monday 22nd March and if Yorkshire reach the 40-over Final against either Derbyshire or Lancashire on Tuesday 23rd March they will provide ball-by-ball commentary on that match too.
The radio station joined the white rose county on their pre-season tour of Abu Dhabi last year and has shown its commitment and support of the Club by increasing their pre-season presence in 2010.
Ben Fry, Yorkshire Radio’s Station Director, said:“Yorkshire Radio is very pleased to be joining Andrew Gale and his Yorkshire squad in Barbados . Last year’s trip to Abu Dhabi was a great success for Yorkshire Radio and this year we will be ramping up our coverage even more, covering all things cricket and providing our listeners with a bit of a flavour of Barbados life too. Barbados is a cricket mad island and hopefully we can bring some Caribbean sunshine through the airwaves after what’s been a very cold winter in Yorkshire .”
James Buttler, PR & Communications Manager at YCCC, said:“Yorkshire Radio will be a massive help in Barbados in communicating the news and excitement of the pre-season tour back home and to our supporters around the world. I’m sure many people cannot wait for Andrew Gale’s side to take the field in 2010. Thanks to Yorkshire Radio’s involvement and the work we put in on the Club website our supporters will get the entire pre-season tour experience. I hope it whets their appetite for what I’m sure will be an exciting season ahead.”
