At last what you've all been waiting for - the fixtures for the 2009 domestic cricket season - so getting planning your summer, book your guest houses in Scarborough and start looking forward...
Anthony McGrath’s Yorkshire side do not have to wait long in 2009 for a chance to take on defending LV County Champions,
Durham . The Club opens the season with a Friends Provident Trophy away trip to
Chester-le-Street on Sunday 19th April and then get their 4-day campaign underway against the reigning champions on Wednesday 22nd April.
Durham return to Headingley Carnegie on July 10th.
The new boys in Division 1 of the LV County Championship are Worcestershire and Warwickshire. Many people will be inking in a visit to the picturesque New Road ground in mid-July after we’ve welcomed Worcestershire back to Headingley Carnegie at the end of April. We visit Edgbaston in early May before hosting Warwickshire at
Scarborough . The end of season trip to play Sussex at
Hove , the scene of Wainwright and Rashid’s great escape in 2008, will commence on Wednesday 16th September – hopefully we’ll have the performances without the relegation backdrop and drama this time around.
For those of you who have been waiting eagerly to book accommodation in Scarborough, the North Marine Road ground plays host to Durham (FPT) and Nottinghamshire (LVCC) in mid-July (you can expect big crowds for the visits of our neighbours) before the Club return to the east coast at the end of August for the visits of Warwickshire (LVCC) and Sussex (Pro40).
The much anticipated Roses battles against
Lancashire also sit in two pockets of the calendar with away and home Twenty20 matches on 26th and 29th May respectively followed later in the summer by the Old Trafford LV County Championship match at the end of July and the Headingley Carnegie return leg commencing on August 19th.
The Twenty20 Cup looks slightly different in 2009 with an earlier start (Leicestershire at Headingley Carnegie on 25th May), then a three match Championship break part-way through, before the groups are decided at the end of June. If Yorkshire Carnegie progress the Twenty20 Cup Quarter-Finals fall at the end of July with the Finals Day, at Edgbaston, taking place on Saturday 15th August.
Yorkshire Carnegie’s promotion to Division 1 of the NatWest Pro40 sets up some excellent late season matches. The Carnegie will be hoping to get their top-flight campaign off to a good start away at Worcestershire on Wednesday 15th July before drawing the season to its conclusion on Sunday 27th September with the visit of Essex Eagles to Headingley Carnegie.
The first team to step out alongside Yorkshire onto the newly laid turf at Headingley Carnegie will be
Sussex in the Friends Provident Trophy match on Sunday 26th April. The Friends Provident Trophy in 2009 has been changed to provide a free draw for the group competition. Yorkshire Carnegie play home and away matches against Durham, Gloucestershire, Surrey and
Sussex between April 19th and May 20th. The Lord’s final is on July 25th.

England team as they battle out the 4th npower Ashes Test starting on Friday 7th August. On 21st May Headingley Carnegie stage the England v
West Indies NatWest Series One-Day International.
There is all of that and more - remember Yorkshire Carnegie will be travelling to Abu Dhabi to defend their Pro Arch Trophy in March 2009. The fixtures for that competition can be found HERE.

Yorkshire cricket. Let’s hope we have some terrific matches, some wonderful individual and team performances to remember and some sunshine this time around.
