DAY 1

Overnight rain delayed the start but thanks to the efforts of the groundstaff play could commence at 1.30pm with 74 overs left in the day. Glamorgan won the toss and elected to bowl.

Will Bennison and Finlay Bean opened the innings and had added 19 before the former was taken at first slip off O’Riordan having made 8 from 17 balls. Bean was joined by Harry Duke and they added 50 in 77 deliveries before Bean was caught in the gully for 30 from 56 balls with 4 fours. The next ball saw Yash Vagadia caught at the wicket and we were reduced to 69-3 and O’Riordan had 3-34.

Owen Smith survived the hat trick ball but was lbw for 8 to Edwards (80-4. Duke and Jawad Akhtar took the total to 121 before Duke was caught behind off Franco for 41 made from 75 balls with 7 fours. Akhtar was unbeaten on 37 from 46 balls at tea, Joe Thompson 8 not out and Yorkshire 136-5 with 37 overs left in the day.

After lunch Akhtar and Thompson continued their partnership passing 50 in 76 balls  and then past a hundred in 141 balls – both players passed individual half centuries, Akhtar in 76 balls with 7 fours and Thompson in 58 balls with 9 fours. The partnership reached 129 as we earned our first batting bonus point.

As the evening session progressed they both continued towards their centuries and it was Akhtar who reached the landmark first from 126 balls with 16 fours and shortly before the close Thompson made his first 2nd XI hundred from 141 balls including 13 fours. The close was reached without further loss with a second batting bonus point at 308-5; an unbroken 6th wicket partnership 187.
