Leeds Metropolitan University
Leeds Metropolitan University is a university of festivals and partnerships. Last year, Leeds Met Carnegie won the 'Coaching Environment of the Year' award at the UK Coaching Awards and was announced as the home of the UK Centre for Coaching Excellence.
This year our students broke into the top three in the British Universities & Colleges Sport league, with only Loughborough and Bath recording higher results. The University also achieved its best ever Research Assessment Exercise results with Sports-Related Studies in the top six institutions in the country. We are one of the largest universities in the country, with around 30,000 students and 3,000 staff. We have two contrasting learning environments in Leeds, the traditional setting of one campus in the world famous sporting area of Headingley and one intertwined with the business, health, civic and entertainment quarters of Leeds.
Leeds Met Carnegie is also the primary partner of Yorkshire Carnegie, Yorkshire County Cricket Club's one day team. The University's Carnegie Pavilion at Headingley Carnegie Stadium will combine world-class cricket, media and hospitality facilities and will also act as a teaching space for Leeds Met. It is part of a raft of ambitious architectural projects by Leeds Met which include the iconic Rose Bowl - the new home of the University's Business School in the Civic Quarter.
The partnership with Yorkshire County Cricket Club has gone from strength to strength including collaboration in the UAE alongside a pre-season tour to recruit international students and develop business links.
Within the partnership are student and graduate trainee placements and links with the Carnegie Centre for Sports Performance and Well-Being. Stewart Regan, YCCC Chief Executive is a regular contributor to Leeds Met staff and business development activities.
