Drax Cup 2013
Enter the Drax Cup in 2013 and your school could play on the outfield at Headingley Carnegie Stadium!
The Drax Cup creates the chance to win through to the finals on the world famous cricket pitch at Headingley Carnegie Stadium in Leeds. This means your school could be playing on the same ground as the England team when they face Australia and New Zealand later this year!
This is the biggest cricket competition for under 9s in the country and so far more than 12,500 children in Yorkshire have taken part since it was launched in 2007.
The Drax Cup has the backing of Andrew Gale, Yorkshire County Cricket Club Captain, and Katherine Brunt, the renowned fast bowler with England and Yorkshire, who are ambassadors for the competition.
Bedale Primary School from North Yorkshire are the current Drax Cup holders. Other past winners are: AlwoodleyPrimary School, Leeds (2011 and 2010), WestvilleHousePrimary School, Ilkley (2009), High View Learning Centre, Wombwell, near Barnsley (2008) and WheatlandsPrimary School, Redcar (2007).
The competition is sponsored by Drax and organised by The Yorkshire County Cricket Club in conjunction with Yorkshire Cricket Board and Yorkshire Schools’ Cricket Association.
The Drax Cup is part of the company’s Cricket In The Community scheme which provides cricket coaching in schools to support education and to promote sports learning as part of the National Curriculum, which is supported by Yorkshire Cricket Board.

The finals will be on Tuesday 9 July 2013 before Yorkshire Carnegie v Leicestershire Foxes in the Friends Life t20.
