Ready, Stewie, Cook
Yorkshire and Northamptonshire players test England legends’ kitchen skills
Yorkshire players were treated to a meal served up by England legends past and present for an exciting event titled ‘Ready, Stewie, Cook’ on 9 August at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, ahead of the CB40 game between Northamptonshire and Yorkshire. Clydesdale Bank, sponsors of the CB40 and family partners of YCCC, organised the culinary competition between two of their ambassadors, Alec Stewart and Alastair Cook.
Celebrity chef and keen Yorkshire cricket fan Brian Turner was also be on hand to lend his expertise and supervise the kitchen as the two cricketers went head to head in the televised cook-off. Four enthusiastic players from Yorkshire and Northamptonshire then tried dishes prepared by Stewart and Cook in a bid to find out who has the superior kitchen skills.
The players voted with their CB40 boundary cards to give each player either a 6 or a 4, and it was Alec Stewart who walked away with the bragging rights as his dish was judged the best. Alastair Cook, on the other hand, ended up with the booby prize of the wooden spoon!
