Notes from the Members’ Committee meeting held on Monday, July 2, 2012

The meeting focused on potential changes to the Membership Options scheme for 2013, and a summary paper of potential improvements and changes was discussed at some length.

The Committee were concerned to keep costs down, to retain existing members, to attract previous members to return and to increase overall attendance. It was generally agreed that the existing Options scheme had worked well over the last six years and was well accepted by the membership.

Concern was registered with the Club that the Long Room had been taken over by the rugby club while a county match was in progress. This had caused considerable nuisance to members, who were asked to move out. The Committee sought an assurance from the Club that the room would not be handed over for rugby events in similar circumstances in future.

Concern was also expressed to the Club that catering standards were falling and prices increasing. The Club gave assurances that the topic was under review with the catering managers, Sodexo.
