The YCCC Charitable Youth Trust

Yorkshire Charitable Youth Trust logo

The aim of the Trust is to encourage young people throughout the County to take an active interest in cricket and the Trustees welcome support from Yorkshire supporters and Members

The Trust is proud of its connection with YCCC but is totally independent working under Chairman Charles Fenton and a number of experienced trustees. The Trust also incorporates the ` Sir Leonard Hutton Foundation`  which lends its name to the `Enjoy Cricket` annual summer coaching sessions.  For many years these coaching sessions have taken place throughout Yorkshire and been enjoyed by thousands of young people.

The aim of the Trust is to encourage youngsters to get involved in sport – particularly cricket – and  therefore to raise funds which are made available to suitable applicants in addition to funding `Enjoy Cricket`. Grants are made to clubs and organisations who convince the Trustees that their application will meet the Trust`s objectives.

In the recent past awards have been made to:

One in a Million (Sports) Bradford; Ben Rhydding CC; Humberside Schools Football Association; Yorkshire Schools Cricket Association; Yorkshire Senior Schools Cricket Association; Leeds Interfaith Project; Airedale & Wharfedale Senior Cricket League U13s Competition; Calverley and St Wilfrids (junior coaching); Olicanians CC (junior net faciliities) and Upper Airedale Junior Cricket Association. These awards have helped to fund coaching, facilities, equipment, tournament expenses and ground development.

Many young people have enjoyed developing greater skills due to the various grants made to their organisations over many years. Applications can be made and donations sent  at any time.

Please apply/donate to: Yorkshire CC Charitable Youth Trust, c/o YCCC, Headingley Carnegie Stadium, St Michael`s Lane, Leeds, LS6 3BU.Your communication will be passed to the Secretary to the Trustees.

We hope you will agree that young people involved in sport are much more likely to grow into good citizens!

ENJOY CRICKET

Following the success of the Enjoy Cricket initiative over the last 14 years, The Yorkshire County Cricket Club Charitable Youth Trust and YCCC are again making facilities available at various centres throughout the county on selected dates throughout the summer for young children interested in cricket.

1) These sessions aim to give the beginner an opportunity to learn how to play the game.

2) In particular, the sessions will give cricketing opportunity to those who attend schools which do not provide their own facilities.

3) The sessions will also offer an opportunity for those who are not themselves members of a school cricket team and who have limited opportunities to partake in practical games sessions.

4) Should there be any uncertainty regarding the weather or playing conditions, please contact the co-ordinator for each centre, whose name and telephone number appear on the poster and can be found by clicking here.

Equipment

Those who take part should arrive in their kit - tracksuit or cricket whites or sports gear etc. JEANS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. Whilst some cricket equipment may be available, those of you who have your own equipment should bring it along with you.

Programme

The Director at each Centre will devise his/her own programme with the emphasis on fun, activity and enjoyment, with everybody joining in. Formal coaching will not be part of the sessions.

Applications

The Enjoy Cricket sessions are open to all children, boys and girls. "Enjoy Cricket” is part of the Sir Leonard Hutton Foundation's endeavours to promote cricket throughout the region.

Daily Charge

To help with the costs of printing the publicity material, those who attend will be charged £1.00 per day.

Attendance

So, if you would like to have a go, look for the dates and times of the Centre nearest to you (see above) and simply go along on the days mentioned at the times stated. Please arrive 30 minutes before the start time so that your names and addresses can be recorded. This is to allow the Yorkshire CCC to write to all who attend with information about the County Club`s Junior Membership Scheme, the Mynahs
