A Question of Cricket
The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and students from Leeds Met University’s Event Management course organised ‘A Question of Cricket’ on Monday 19th April 2010 at Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground.
The YCF fundraising event was run in the format of the BBC’s ‘A Question of Sport’ and consisted of a celebrity panel including YCCC Director of Cricket, Martyn Moxon, Yorkshire players Jacques Rudolph and Anthony McGrath, Leeds United Manager Simon Grayson, Rugby League Star and Celtic Crusaders Coach, Brian Noble, and Iestyn Harris, Rugby League and Rugby Union player.
Yorkshire Radio’s Ben Fry hosted the evening and panellists were challenged with questions and activities relating to cricket and sport in front of a live audience. The evening opened with entertainment from stand up comedian and the audience were offered the chance to win merchandise and tickets by answering each round’s Audience Participation question.
A Question of Cricket was a huge success and raised over £500 for the Foundation with ticket sales, an auction and raffle. Furthermore the evening increased involvement in cricket through attracting an audience who may not otherwise be involved with the game.
The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation are looking to host another event in 2011.
