Yorkshire Terriers S9 team continued their excellent start to the season with a thumping Roses win over hosts Lancashire, by 105 runs, at Bolton club Bradshaw on Sunday.

Alistair Domville’s unbeaten side have won three out of four games in their regional North Group and sit two points clear at the top from North Wales, who also have three wins from four.

  • Domville was one of four Terriers batters to retire out with scores in the thirties as they posted 231 all out in 30 overs.

Openers Domville (31) and Jacob Grimes (30) shared 107 before Jamie Dillon (30) and Luke Messenger (32) later contributed significantly down the order.

In reply, Lancashire faced an uphill task right from the off, slipping to 5-2, including a wicket for Messenger. Only one batter made it beyond 20 in their 126 all out in 29 overs.

Alistair Domville’s wife, Claire, was one of three bowlers to take two wickets; Grimes and Hameed Abbassi the others. A polished display with the ball and in the field was highlighted by seven of nine bowlers used all striking at least once.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire’s D40 Tykes team were beaten by 12 runs in a friendly against Nottinghamshire club side Bothamsall Exiles at Higham CC in Barnsley.

The Exiles made 232-4, including 1-28 from Liam Savage.

In reply, James O’Conner impressed with 75, as did Owen Morris with 53. The pair shared 128 for the second wicket, though it wasn’t quite enough to earn a victory, with Yorkshire finishing on 220-9.
